Felicitation Programme for Asha Workers and Nurses for their service during lockdown

June 17, 2020: Catholic Sabha, Shirva unit and Sthri Sanghatan of Shirva Parish organized a recognition cum felicitation programme on Wednesday at Our Lady of Health Church Shirva for Asha Workers, Nurses and Shirva panchayath water supply and water management staff for their prompt, selfless and dedicated service during the lockdown period due to coronavirus epidemic.

Fr Denis D’sa (Shirva PP), Fr. Ashwyn Aranha (Asst. PP) and Fr. Rohan Dias (Asst. PP) along with special invitees Mr. ShriShaila Murugoda (Sub-Inspector of Shirva Police station), Dr. Santhosh Kumar Bailoor (Chief doctor of Community Health Center Shirva), Mr. Vijay (Village accountant, Shirva grama panchayat), Mr. Wilson Rodrigues, (Zilla panchayath member), Mrs. Leena Machado (Secretary, finance committee, Shirva Parish), Mr. Jerald Rodrigues (President, Catholic Sabha Shirva Unit) and Mrs. Agnes Barboza (President, Sthri Sanghatan unit of Shirva Parish) were present.

Mr. Jerald Rodrigues welcomed the gathering, Mr. Gilbert Pinto (Headmaster of St. Mary’s High School, Shirva) compered the programme and Mr. Melwyn Aranha proposed the formal vote of thanks. A special individual honor was made to Dr. Santhosh Kumar, Mr. ShriShaila Murugoda, and to Mr. Vijay.

Free Food kit distribution at Shirva Church Premises

May 1, 2020: Catholic Sabha Shirva Unit, SWAK (Kuwait) organised free food kits distribution for needy people and poor people of all the religions of Shirva at 9.30 a.m. at Shirva Church premises. A total of 125 Food kits were distributed. Even generous donors of Shirva Parish were also a part of it. Fr. Denis D’sa (Shirva Parish Priest), Fr. Ashwin Aranha (Asst. Parish Priest ), Mr. Anantha Padmanaba (Shirva Panchayat PDO), Mr. Vijay (Shirva VA), Mr. Wilson Rodrigues (Zilla Panchayat Member), Dr. Santhosh (Shirva Community Health Centre), Shirva Finance Committee members, Secretary Leena Machado, Shirva  Parish Ward Gurkars were present. During this occasion, leaflets were distributed on COVID 19 (Corona Virus Disease) prevention and precautionary measures to be taken to control the spread of disease and the facilities available in the Community Health Centre, Shirva. Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Mrs. Leena Machado and Mr. Joseph Castelino were actively involved in organising this programme along with Catholic Sabha Shirva Unit members.

Jeevan Jyothi Camp

October 7, 2019: Jeevan Jyothi Camp was inaugurated at Saud Sabha Bhavan, Shirva for the 10th Standard students of Shirva Deanery. V. Rev. Fr. Denis D’sa had presided over the function, Rev.Fr. Mahesh D’souza, Rev. Fr. Ashwin Aranha, Mr. Wilson D’souza, Mr. Melwyn Aranha were present during the inauguration. The camp began with prayer service seeking the blessings and grace of God, followed by lighting of lamp by the Dignitaries, Animators, Youths. Jeevan Jyothi Camp will be for a span of 4 days from 7 October to 10 October.

Volleyball and Throwball Tournament at Shirva Parish

October 2, 2019: ICYM council of Shirva Deanery organized a volleyball and throw ball tournament at St Mary’s Ground, Shirva on 2nd October. The tournament started with a stage program inaugurated by V. Rev. Fr. Denis Dsa and Rev. Fr. Mahesh Dsouza. Fr.Ashwin Aranha, Mr. Wilson D’Souza, Mrs. Leena Machado, Mr. Melwyn Aranha and Mr. Dion D’Souza (ICYM President, Udupi Diocese) were present. There were a total of 3 teams for volleyball and 5 teams for throwball. The winners and runners of volleyball were Pangla and Pernal Parish. Throwball prizes were also backed by Pangla and Pernal. These teams will be representing Shirva deanery in the upcoming Youlympics on 6th October.
