Cultural Evening and ‘Passport’ Konkani telefilm screening at Shirva Parish

September 8, 2019: Nativity of Mother Mary ” Monthi Festh” was joyfully celebrated at Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva by organizing a Cultural Programme at Saudh Sabha Bhavan from 4 PM onwards by ICYM and YCS. Rev. Fr.Denis D’sa, Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’souza, Rev. Fr. Ashwin Aranha, Mr. Wilson D’souza, Mrs. Leena Machado, Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Ms. Riya D’Souza (YCS President) were present on the dais. Rev. Fr. Royson Fernandes was the chief guest of the function. Prizes of the ‘Monti Festh Games’ which were conducted last Sunday was distributed to the winners. Along with this, YCS & ICYM Shirva also presented wonderful dances during this occasion.

In addition to this, Movie Screening of “Passport” a Konkani telefilm, written by Rev. Fr. Royson Fernandes and directed by Mr. Vinod Gangolli was shown to the parishioners at Saud Sabha Bhavan at 5 pm. This was the 25th screening of the movie. The movie depicted a wonderful plot regarding family life. Fr. Royson along with the artists of the telefilm were honored during this occasion. Ms. Riya D’Souza welcomed the gathering, Ms. Riya Pinto compered the programme and Ms. Reeshal D’Mello proposed the formal vote of thanks.

Fun Games on the occasion of Feast of Blessed Virgin Mary

September 1, 2019: On the occasion of the upcoming Feast of Nativity of Mary (Monthi festh) , ICYM and YCS Shirva organized ‘Monthi Festh Games’. Children to adults and elderly participated in these games in large numbers. The games ranged from picking confetti to penalty shootout and star attractions being modla volche and tug of war.

In addition to the games, many stalls were put up selling homemade food for the collection towards the upcoming mission Sunday.

Teachers’ Day Celebration at Shirva Parish

September 1, 2019: Teachers’ Day celebration was organised by Our Lady of Health Church Shirva under Commission for Education. Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest, Moodubelle Parish, who is also a teacher was the chief guest of this function. V. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Ashwin Aranha, Mr. Wislon D’Souza, Mr. Leena Machado, Mr. Melwyn Aranha were present during this occasion. Over 40 teachers from the parish gathered during this occasion. Fr. Clement while addressing the teachers said, it is important for a teacher to have patience, calmness and try to identify the real problem of students rather than directly judging without any evidence. Fr. Denis D’Sa highlighted all the achievements of Fr. Clement as a teacher. All the teachers were presented with gifts as a token of love and gratitude by the commission for education. Prof. Ronald Moras, Animator of Commission for Education welcomed the gathering, Mr. Norbert Machado proposed the formal vote of thanks and Mr. Gilbert Pinto compered the program. Mr. Julian Rodrigues and Mr. Melwyn D’Souza, members of Commission for Education were also present.
