September 1, 2019: Teachers’ Day celebration was organised by Our Lady of Health Church Shirva under Commission for Education. Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest, Moodubelle Parish, who is also a teacher was the chief guest of this function. V. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Ashwin Aranha, Mr. Wislon D’Souza, Mr. Leena Machado, Mr. Melwyn Aranha were present during this occasion. Over 40 teachers from the parish gathered during this occasion. Fr. Clement while addressing the teachers said, it is important for a teacher to have patience, calmness and try to identify the real problem of students rather than directly judging without any evidence. Fr. Denis D’Sa highlighted all the achievements of Fr. Clement as a teacher. All the teachers were presented with gifts as a token of love and gratitude by the commission for education. Prof. Ronald Moras, Animator of Commission for Education welcomed the gathering, Mr. Norbert Machado proposed the formal vote of thanks and Mr. Gilbert Pinto compered the program. Mr. Julian Rodrigues and Mr. Melwyn D’Souza, members of Commission for Education were also present.

 

25 August 2019: ICYM & YCS unit of Our Lady of Health Church Shirva organized a ‘Parish level singing competition’ at Saudh Sabha Bhavan, Shirva. V. Rev. Fr. Denis D’sa, Rev. Fr. Mahesh Dsouza, Rev. Fr. Ashwin Aranha, Mr. Wilson Dsouza, Mrs. Leena Machado and Mr. Melwyn Aranha were present during the occasion. Rev. Fr. Clement Mascharenhas, Parish priest of Moodubelle, Br. Pradeep Cardoza, hailing from Chikmangalur and currently doing theology at St. Joseph seminary, Mangalore & Mr. Ashwin Correa, Guitarist from Udyavara were the judges for this competition. The competition had various genre being boys & girls aged 5-10 , boys & girls 10-15, ladies and men aged 15+, Duet and ward group singing. Each of the genre had 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes. Accordingly, points were allocated to each ward, inorder to win the overall championship. The overall championship of the singing competition was backed by Shanthi Ward followed by Convent Ward and Kudthamajal Ward.

Aug 18, 2019: Ycs Shirva Unit organised a programme on advantages and disadvantages of social media on at Don Bosco Audio Visual Hall. Rev. Fr Chethan Lobo (PRO, Diocese of Udupi) was the resource person.
V. Rev. Fr Denis D’sa, Fr. Ashwin Aranha, Fr. Mahesh D’Souza, Mr. Wilson D’Souza (Vice president of parish pastoral council), Mrs. Leena Machado (Secretary), Superior of Auxilium Convent, Animators of YCS, Social Communication Convenor and President of YCS inaugrated the program by lighting the lamp. Nearly 40 students benefited the program. Even tenth standard students were asked to join the program.

 

Aug 15, 2019: The feast of Assumption of Mary was celebrated at Our Lady of Health Church Shirva with a holy mass by Rev. Fr. Mahesh Dsouza and Rev. Fr. Denis Dsa. The liturgy of the mass was carried out by the members of ICYM shirva  along with a melodious choir by ICYM members who were trained by Rev.Fr.Mahesh Dsouza. The youth actively took part in the mass in large numbers.

After the Holy mass there was Flag hoisting at Don Bosco English Medium School  premises by Col. Victor Francis Dsouza. Thereafter, breakfast was organized by Maha Sangh (Stri Sangatan and Swa Sahay) towards the collection for mission Sunday.

The altar boys day was celebrated at Shirva Parish on 11 August 2019. 10 new members newly joined the sodality. Near 50 altar boys were present.
