Battle of Brains and Road Safety Talk

ICYM Unit Shirva organised a deanery-level quiz competition titled “Battle of Brains” on 26th May, 2019 in order to improve the knowledge and thinking capacity of our youth. It was conducted by Prof. Melvin Castelino, St Mary’s College Shirva. Youth from various parishes participated actively. The Pangla Youth won the first prize in the quiz competition, followed by the Shirva Youth (First Runner Up) and Pamboor Youth (Second Runner Up). The competition was followed by a  road safety talk by Sub-Inspector Sri. Abdul Kadar and Inspector Sri. Shantharam (Kaup Circle). Udupi Diocese ICYM President Dion was also present during this programme. Overall, it was a very informative and successful event for youth.

Talk on Holy Scripture

May 26, 2019: The Bible Commission of Our Lady of Health Church Shirva parish organized a talk on Holy Scripture. Rev. Fr. Noel Mascarenhas, CssR was the resource person. Br. Joel D’Costa helped him. 109 people participated in it. Parish priest, Assistants, Parish Pastoral Council Secretary , 18 Commission Coordinator, Convenor of Bible commission and Secretary of this commission were present. The whole programme was organized by members of the Bible commission.

YouCat (Youth Catechism) Overview to the youngsters of Shirva Parish

May 19: Our Lady of Health Church Shirva under ICYM Shirva organized YouCat (Youth Catechism) to all the youngsters aged between 18-28 years on Sunday. The program started after morning mass at Don Bosco Audio Visual Hall. Mr. Godwin Monis (ICYM President) welcomed the gathering. Mr. Derick Mascarenhas was the resource person who presented the overview on importance of YouCat. A total of 52 youths had participated in this programme. Ms. Riya Pinto (ICYM Secretary) proposed the vote of thanks.
