February 11: Shirva parishioners celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes with great devotion. The celebration started with Rosary at IRMIZ Church (Our Lady of Dolours) followed by mass. Rev. Dr. Praveen Leo Lasrado (Professor, St. Joseph Seminary, Jeppu, Mangaluru) was the chief celebrant. Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier Lewis (Parish Priest, Mudarangadi), Rev. Fr. Anand Noronha (Rector, St. Don Bosco, Kelmbet), V. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa (Parish Priest, Shirva), Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’Souza (Asst. Parish, Shirva), Rev. Fr. Ashwin Aranha (Asst. Parish, Shirva) and Deacon Noel Mascarenhas were present during the celebration.

After mass, the candle light procession was held from IRMIZ Church to Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva through the Shirva main town. Around 1500 people participated in this procession with devotion. There was a tableau depicting the scene from the apparition of Mother Mary to Bernadette. The whole proceedings were organised in front of the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. Fr. Praveen Leo Lasrado in his sermon highlighted the importance of Mother Mary in our family and why do we worship her. The celebration was concluded with the words of gratitude by V. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa.

The Annual Parish Feast of Shirva Parish was celebrated on 5th and 6th February 2019. The vespers was held on 5th February. Rev. Fr. Canute Noronha, Assistant Parish Priest, Kallianpur Milagres (Former Asst. Parish Priest of Shirva) was the main celebrant.

The festive mass was celebrated by V. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Parish Priest, Kundapur Parish (Former Parish Priest of Shirva). Many priests from others parishes were also present during this occasion.

Our Lady of Health Church Shirva celebrated Confraternity Sunday (Kompriso Aithar) on 3rd February 2019 with great devotion. Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, Fr. Mullers Institutions was the main celebrant.

 

 

Sorpu Upper Ward celebrated their Ward Feast on 20^th January 2019 at Mr. Anil D’souza Residence. Rev Fr.Denis Dsa Parish Priest was the Chief Guest.

Fr. Mahesh Dsouza (Principal, Don Bosco CBSE School Shirva), Fr. Ashwin Aranha (Asst. Parish Priest), Br. Noel Mascarenhas, Mrs.Leena Machado (Secretary, Shirva Parish Council), Mr. Melwyn Aranha (18 Commission Coordinator) and Gurkars of neighbouring wards were Present. Mr. William Machado (Ward Gurkar) welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Nancy Machado (Ward Representative) read out the report. Ward member above age of 70 years and previous Gurkars were felicitated by Fr.Denis Dsa.

Fr. Mahesh in his message said “If a ward is live and active, then the credit will to all the ward members”. Rev. Fr. Denis Dsa in his Presidential message said “All the youth of the ward should come together and take active part in all the activities of the ward and Parish”.  Udupi diocese has dedicated this year to the Youth so Youth should utilize all the opportunities which come their way.

Various cultural programmes were organized by Mr. Ashok Nazareth and Ms. Carol Nazareth. Bible Quiz was conducted by Ms. Brenda Dsouza.  Dinner was prepared by Mr. Felix and Flavia Dsouza with the help of ward members. The programme was compered by Ms. Jenevia Preethi Menezes and concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Mr. Anil D’Souza.
