Icym Shirva organised a football tournament INDEPENDENCE CUP – 2018 on 12th August 2018 at St.Marys ground , Shirva. Mr.Vinay Kumar Sorake, Former Member of Parliament of kaup was the chief guest. He inaugurated the event and addressed the gathering on the importance of sports and encouraged them to take part in such tournaments . Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’Souza , Mr. Wilson D’Souza (Vice President of Parish Council), Mrs. Leena Machado (Secretary of Shirva Parish Council), Mr. Melwyn Aranha (18 Commission Coordinator) , Mr. Jerome Mathias (President of lions club shirva), Mr. Arwin D’souza , Mr. Melwyn D’souza, Mr. Sudheer Shetty (President of congress, Shirva) and Mr. Wilson Rodrigues (Member of Zilla Panchayat) were present on the dias. 20 teams took part in the tournament . Quick Bites won the tournament with Rs. 10000 cash prize , and Runners Up was backed by ‘N.G.F.C’ with Rs.7000 cash prize.
