Konkani Antakshari Grand Finale Shines Bright at Saudh Sabha Bhavan

July 14, 2024: ICYM Shirva successfully hosted the much-anticipated Konkani Antakshari Grand Finale at Saudh Sabha Bhavan. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 17 wards of the parish, with the top six teams advancing to the grand finale.

Sorpu Lower Ward emerged victorious, winning a cash prize of Rs. 7777. Nyarma Ward secured the runners-up position with a cash prize of Rs. 5555. The formal function was gracefully compered by Ms. Shareen Corda, with Mr. Vivian Machado extending a warm welcome to the gathering.

Rev. Fr. Rolwyn Aranha, the guest of honor, lauded the youth for their courage and initiative in organizing the Konkani Antakshari. The finale was skillfully hosted by Dr. Grynal D’Mello and Ms. Natasha Lobo, ensuring an engaging and entertaining experience for all.

Ms. Riya Pinto presented the formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Godwin Aranha and Mrs. Laveena Aranha, the chief guests and main sponsors, who awarded the prizes to the winning teams.

Mr. Anil D’Souza and Mr. Manoj Menezes shared their positive feedback about the event, congratulating the ICYM team for their dedication and hard work in organizing such a splendid program. Mrs. Flavia D’Souza, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council addressed the gathering and appreciated the ICYM team for the excellent coordination in organizing this mega event, Rev. Fr. Ronson Pinto, Assistant Director of ICYM Shirva, also expressed his appreciation for the youth, encouraging them to continue their efforts in fostering community spirit and cultural heritage.

The Konkani Antakshari Grand Finale was a testament to the vibrant spirit and unity of the Shirva parish, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Konkani music and bringing the community together in a joyous and memorable event.

Holy Rosary

May 31, 2024: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Shirva organized a Holy Rosary event in front of the Grotto to bring together the parishioners in a spiritual gathering. The event was marked by the devout recitation of the rosary, reflecting the strong faith and unity within the community. This was followed by a Mass led by V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie D’Souza, along with Rev. Fr. Rolwyn Aranha and Rev. Fr. Ronson Pinto, creating a serene and contemplative atmosphere.

The participants, including members of various wards and age groups, came together to pray for peace, community welfare, and personal intentions. The ICYM members ensured the smooth organization of the event, facilitating an inclusive environment for all attendees. Refreshments were provided to the participants.

The Holy Rosary event by ICYM Shirva was a resounding success, fostering a sense of togetherness and spiritual rejuvenation among the parishioners.

Porni Igarz (Old Church) Feast

May 1, 2024: The Feast of Porni Igarz (Old Church) was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm. The main celebrant for the event was Rev. Fr. Valerian Pinto, the former parish priest of Shirva who was instrumental in renovating the old church. Joining him were V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Rolwyn Aranha, and Rev. Fr. Ronson Pinto. The event saw a large turnout of parishioners, who gathered to participate in the festivities.

Our Lady of Dolours: Irmiz Feast

April 3, 2024: Our Lady of Dolours Irmiz Church celebrated its Vespers and Feast on April 2nd and 3rd, 2024. Rev. Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, was the main celebrant on the day of Vespers. V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Rolwyn Aranha, Rev. Fr. Ronson Pinto, and priests from Don Bosco Youth Centre were also present for the occasion. During this event, a dedicated borewell and pumpset, sponsored by Asses Castelino in memory of the late Lawrence Castelino, were inaugurated. On the day of the Feast, Rev. Fr. Alwyn Sequeira, Editor of Uzwaad, Diocese Magazine, was the main celebrant. Many devotees participated in the proceedings on both days.
